Class of 2018,
Chinese American Association of Walnut (CAAW) is pleased to announce the 2017 scholarship program. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student with outstanding achievements in community service. To qualify, student must be a high school JUNIOR residing within the City of Walnut. Student must demonstrate and maintain a 3.0 or above GPA for the current school year.
Application is due by April 17, 2017.
Online application, consent form, recommendation letter form and a copy of last semester’s report card are required for consideration. The documents can be found on the CAAW website at www.caawalnut.org (excluding the report card). Application will not be considered unless all required documents are received by the application deadline. Scholarship winner will be announced in early May.
1. A copy of the last completed semester’s report card
2. A recommendation letter from a mentor or teacher who is familiar with the student’s community service
3. Signed consent form for CAAW to use the student’s name and image in newsletters and press releases

On Saturday, January 28, 2017, UCLA Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement will be hosting a special program called Get College Ready! targeting 8th-11th grade students and their parents/caregivers. This college knowledge event will inspire students to strive for college and learn what it takes to Get Ready. There will be workshops for students and parents/caregivers about college admissions, financial aid, student panel, etc. The event will be held on the UCLA campus and will be FREE. It is a great program to bring a group of students to enjoy. Parking and lunch provided for guests, but they must register individually through the on-line registration site (www.admission.ucla.edu/events/GetCollegeReady ).
