WALNUT VALLEY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION MISSION
Walnut Valley Educational Foundation (WVEF) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a quality education for the students of the Walnut Valley Unified School District. To that end, we will raise financial support and develop fiscal resources to fund a wide variety of enrichment and extra curricular opportunities for students and staff within the Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD).

WALNUT VALLEY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
During each academic year, WVEF will award monetary scholarships to graduating senior students as follows:

¨ Three (3) scholarships of $1,000 each to DBHS graduating senior students
¨ Three (3) scholarships of $1,000 each to WHS graduating senior students
¨ Three (3) scholarships of $1,000 each to either Ron Hockwalt Academy, DBHS Pathways, WHS Academic Design or similar specialized academic programs for graduating senior students.

Additional WVEF scholarships will be awarded districtwide to graduating seniors for the Kenneth Goodson Memorial Scholarship and the Ron Hockwalt Educational Scholarship.  Criteria for each scholarship category are listed on the following pages.

WVEF STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS SELECTION CRITERIA

Kenneth Goodson Memorial Scholarship Award
 The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
 The student must be currently enrolled in the WVUSD for a minimum of three (3) years.
 Scholarship Award Application must be completed by the applicant and signed by the GLC or Principal.
 The student must have demonstrated servant leadership in school or personal activities, be an innovative team builder and show interest in pursuing a career in technology, business or the military.
 The key elements in the selection include the student’s dedication to, and scope of involvement in, school and/or community activities, letter of recommendation, personal resume and personal essay.

Ron Hockwalt Educational Scholarship Award
 The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
 The student must be currently enrolled in the WVUSD for a minimum of three (3) years.
 Scholarship Award Application must be completed by the applicant and signed by the GLC or Principal.
 The student must have demonstrated active participation in tutoring or mentorship in the educational field in the high school setting or in a local community organization(s).
 The key elements in the selection will include the length of participation in tutoring, the level and type of mentorship in the educational field, accomplishments, letter of recommendation, personal resume and
personal essay.

Teen Citizen Scholarship Award
 The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
 The student must be currently enrolled in the WVUSD for a minimum of three (3) years.
 Scholarship Award Application must be completed by the applicant and signed by the GLC or Principal.
 The student must have demonstrated exemplary citizenship, active participation and accomplishments in a high school organization(s).
 The key elements in the selection will include the length and level/type of participation in the organization(s), accomplishments, letter of recommendation, personal resume and personal essay.

Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship Award
 The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
 The student must be currently enrolled in the WVUSD for a minimum of three (3) years.
 Scholarship Award Application must be completed by the applicant and signed by the GLC or Principal.
 The student must have demonstrated exemplary performance in Fine Arts in one or more of the following areas: Art, Dance, Vocal or Instrumental Music, Band, Drama, Film, Theater Arts.
 The key elements in the selection will include the student’s accomplishments, letter of recommendation, personal resume and personal essay.

Industrial Technology Scholarship Award
 The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5,
 The student must be currently enrolled in the WVUSD for a minimum of three (3) years,
 Scholarship Award Application must be completed by the applicant and signed by the GLC or Principal,
 The accomplishments in Industrial Technology must be in one or more of the following areas — Drafting, Technology, Advanced Technology, Publications, Business, Automotive, CAD/CAM, Graphic Design,
 The key elements in the selection will include the student’s accomplishments, letter of recommendation, personal resume, and personal essay.
